Install

How to get Sevorix Pro onto a Linux machine, by script or by hand. The installer prompts before every privileged step — Installer Prompts explains each one.

Before you start

  • Linux x86_64, including WSL2. Sevorix Pro is distributed as prebuilt binaries for this platform only. macOS builds are not yet published.
  • An active Sevorix Pro subscription. sevorix start checks your subscription with Sevorix Hub and refuses to start without one — there is no offline or degraded mode. See sevorix.com for pricing.
  • sudo rights, for the privileged steps. Every one of them is optional and prompted for individually — you can decline all of them and still get a working install, with the reduced coverage noted in Installer Prompts.

Sevorix Lite: open source, no account needed

Sevorix Lite is a separate, open-source edition (AGPL-3.0) with the same enforcement core and a smaller feature set. It builds from source — including on macOS — and needs no subscription. Lite is a distinct product, not a source release of Pro; its README covers installing it. See Editions for what each includes.

Quick install

bash
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sevorix/sevorix/main/install.sh | bash

The script downloads the latest release from sevorix/sevorix, verifies its SHA-256, and runs the bundle's own installer — which prompts before every privileged step, even when the script itself arrived through a pipe. Installer Prompts explains what each prompt does and what declining costs.

For an unattended install (CI, cloud-init, image builds), accept every prompt up front with --yes:

bash
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sevorix/sevorix/main/install.sh | bash -s -- --yes

--yes accepts the privileged steps too, including the system-wide kernel setting — read through Installer Prompts before using it on a machine you care about. Other flags: --version X.Y.Z pins a release, --dry-run shows what would happen, --help lists the rest.

Piping a script to a shell means running code you have not read. If you would rather not, read install.sh first, or follow the manual install below — it is the same install in four steps.

Then log in and start.

Manual install

1. Download the release archive and its checksum:

bash
VERSION=$(curl -s https://api.github.com/repos/sevorix/sevorix/releases/latest | grep tag_name | cut -d'"' -f4)
curl -LO https://github.com/sevorix/sevorix/releases/download/${VERSION}/sevorix-pro-${VERSION}-x86_64-linux.tar.gz
curl -LO https://github.com/sevorix/sevorix/releases/download/${VERSION}/sevorix-pro-${VERSION}-x86_64-linux.tar.gz.sha256

2. Verify the download. This is not optional: the installer asks for sudo and installs a root-owned binary that every shell command your agent runs will be routed through.

bash
sha256sum -c sevorix-pro-${VERSION}-x86_64-linux.tar.gz.sha256

The expected checksum is also printed in the release notes, so you can compare against a second source rather than a file downloaded from the same place as the archive.

3. Extract and run the installer:

bash
tar xzf sevorix-pro-${VERSION}-x86_64-linux.tar.gz
cd sevorix-pro-${VERSION}-x86_64-linux
./install-binary.sh

Pass --force to accept every prompt without asking. As with --yes above, that includes the system-wide kernel setting. Each prompt is explained in Installer Prompts.

4. Log in and start.
